Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr. Annelie Rabie, is warning businesses in Hermanus about a scam where callers ask for money or donations for fire fighters.

It is unfortunate that fraudsters are taking advantage of the goodwill of residents and businesses alike. We urged you to be extremely cautious when receiving unsolicited phone calls asking for donations.

If you have any doubt about the legitimacy of a call asking for a donation on behalf of the Overstrand Fire Department that you think may be a scam, kindly check with the Mayor’s office on 028 313 8050.
